Sylvester Smith
Sylvester Smith is the President of Change Agents, Inc. Smith has over 20 years of professional experience in state government.
Smith earned a bachelor’s degree from Philander Smith College, and he later received an MBA from Harding University. As a law student at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR), Smith worked his way through law school as a business consultant by day and by cleaning commercial buildings at night. Smith’s dedication and persistence as a student earned him a Juris Doctorate with honors from the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law.
As a business advocate and strategy consultant, Smith has provided legislative lobbying, media relations and commerce consulting to clients, such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Federation of Independent Business, and host of private sector firms.
At the early age of 24, Smith served as a policy advisor to Governor Huckabee’s administration, where he was known to be the youngest senior staff member appointed to such a prestigious position. As a policy advisor, Smith worked in various capacities for the administration, which includes his service to the Arkansas Transitional Employment Board, which managed the state’s welfare to work program and as the Governor’s alternate on the Delta Regional Authority Board of Directors, which administered a multi-million-dollar federal grant for delta development initiatives.
